At FOODITY, we are on a mission to revolutionise food systems, prioritising health, sustainability and data sovereignty, and driving positive change for both people and the planet. Selecting the beneficiaries of our Open Call #1 has marked a significant milestone in our journey. They are now part of our 12-month Pilot Development Programme and will receive funding and support to develop their innovative data-driven solutions for food and nutrition respectful of users’ personal data sovereignty.
Harnessing the power of the data economy is key transforming food systems. Data-driven technologies can empower individuals to make informed choices and influence the environmental impact of food systems as well as the quality of the food offered (by producers, distributors and retailers) by demanding healthier and greener food options.
“At FOODITY, we are convinced that, by using the data provided by technology, we can increase the demand for healthier and more sustainable food.”
However, the current landscape of tools and platforms, such as wearables and apps, are often closed and restrict user control over personal data sovereignty and transferability, limiting their potential use for the common good.
This is the context in which our mission comes into play. We aim to create a dynamic ecosystem of digital solutions for food and nutrition that respects individuals’ right to personal data sovereignty.
But we cannot do it alone. Through our open calls, we are selecting the European teams with the best solutions to demonstrate the potential of data-driven innovation in food and nutrition while ensuring complete user control over their personal data: our FOODITY innovators.
