During the FOODITY Final Conference in Brussels, a key highlight was the second FOODITY Star Award ceremony, which recognised the most impactful solutions developed through FOODITY Open Call #2. After a year of pilot development, mentoring, and real-world testing, three finalist teams (ONCONOURISH, REDUCE, and SEBP) presented their projects to an expert jury. The winning team received a €7,500 prize to further advance its solution, in addition to the funding already awarded through the FOODITY programme.
On 22 October 2025, as part of the FOODITY & DRG4FOOD Final Conference, the three FOODITY Open Call #2 finalist teams pitched their solutions to an independent expert jury from the food, data, and innovation ecosystems, who assessed their projects based on four criteria:
- Innovation potential: how novel and transformative the solution is
- Impact on citizens: the extent to which it responds to real needs while protecting data rights
- Benefits for the food system: economic, social, and environmental value
Business sustainability: the project’s ability to advance independently beyond the FOODITY programme
ONCONOURISH: Personalised nutrition support for cancer patients
ONCONOURISH, developed by IBIONS, Datipic, and TheMoveMen (based in Spain), received the 2nd FOODITY Star Award for its innovative approach to nutritional support for people undergoing cancer treatment.
The project addresses a critical challenge in oncology care: helping patients manage their nutrition during and after treatment. By combining artificial intelligence (AI), scientific and clinical expertise, and a patient-centred design, ONCONOURISH delivers personalised dietary guidance that complements hospital care and supports long-term dietary adherence.
At the core of the solution is the IBIONS360 app, which enables continuous monitoring and tailored recommendations. Through the integration of technology, nutrition science, and behavioural insights, ONCONOURISH helps patients build healthier eating habits that can positively influence their well-being and quality of life.
The project was awarded €7,500 through the FOODITY Star Award, in addition to the €187,500 already received as part of FOODITY Open Call #2, to further develop and scale its solution.
Congratulations to Sara Bañón Escandell, Francisco Borja Escribá, Sara Ripoll, Cristian Fernández, Ángel González, Lorena Martínez, Jorge Alpuente, Javier Alcázar Ortiz, Julio Madrigal Matute, Ángel Borque, and everyone involved in making ONCONOURISH a success.
The Finalists: REDUCE and SEBP
Alongside ONCONOURISH, two other projects reached the final stage of FOODITY Open Call #2, standing out for their strong progress and potential impact.
REDUCE
AI-driven solution to reduce food waste in collective catering
REDUCE helps catering companies understand plate waste through computer vision, behavioural analysis, and user feedback. The solution provides actionable insights to optimise operations, reduce waste, and promote more sustainable practices. The project is based in Italy and developed by SpritzMatter, Behavix, and TESAF.
SEBP
Sustainable Employee Benefits Platform
SEBP offers a digital platform that enables companies to provide employee benefits aligned with sustainability goals. By combining transparent data, sustainability metrics, and digital management tools, SEBP promotes responsible consumption and supports both employers and users in making more informed choices. The project is based in Bulgaria and developed by Agriventures and The Good Club.
