At FOODITY, we believe in the power of innovation to make food and nutrition systems more transparent, fair, and sustainable. Through our open calls, we support projects that put people and the planet first — creating digital tools and solutions to empower healthier diets, sustainable choices, and stronger food networks. One of these pioneering initiatives is 3 FAIR (Fair Data, Fair Food, Fair Network), a project committed to empowering fair-trade and solidarity producers and consumers with digital tools that foster sustainability.
When asked about their goals for the FOODITY Pilot Development Programme, the 3 FAIR team highlighted the opportunity to “positively impact small fair trade stores and alternative food networks by helping them build stronger relationships and attract new customers, through digital innovation in inventory management and marketing practices.”
For the team, being part of FOODITY is an opportunity to expand their reach, enhance communication, foster collaboration, and create synergies. The programme offers the chance to build a stronger network of stakeholders who share the vision of fairer and more sustainable food systems.
As the 3 FAIR team put it: “We look forward to facilitating the integration of innovative digital solutions for better inventory management and enhanced communication for small fair trade and solidarity stores and consumers. Together, we can transform the agrifood system into a more transparent, open, informative and sustainable one. COMMONSLAB
TERRA VERDE
3 FAIR is powered by a group of eight multidisciplinary professionals:
- Jann Eike Kruse, Head R&D at COMMONSLAB: At 3 FAIR, he manages and coordinates all technical aspects. With a Master’s in Semiconductors and a PhD in Laser, he followed his passion for open-source and founded the CommonsLab Makerspace. Initially conceived as an open space for DIY knowledge sharing, CommonsLab participates in open-source prototype innovations. Today, he leads R&D activities with a focus on smart, IoT-embedded systems.
- Dimitris Koukoulakis, Computer Scientist at COMMONSLAB: He is focused on developing software.
- Emmanouil Britzolakis, CEO at COMMONSLAB: He manages and coordinates the 3FAIR project.
"I love the opportunity to collaborate with experts from so many different disciplines, to learn throughout the process and to explore and study the possibilities and the impact that our pilot can have on small ethical shops, on their success, and on their customers."
- Eleni Stamataki, Senior Researcher at CIHEAM MAICh: At 3 FAIR, she leads the research team of CIHEAM MAICh. With a background in sociology and an MSc in Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, Mrs. Stamataki is a senior researcher specialising in the agrifood sector, rural development, and sustainability.
- Amine Zouaghi, Researcher at CIHEAM MAICh: Member of the CIHEAM MAICh research team – Consumer Survey Design. A researcher in the field of economics and consumer behaviour with a strong background in computer engineering.
- Drakos Periklis, External Expert at CIHEAM MAICh: Member of the CIHEAM MAICh research team – Questionnaire Design. Economist specialised in Computational Techniques and Methods of Management and Data Analysis.

- Ilektra Remoundou, Member of the Administrative Board at TerraVerde: At 3 FAIR, she coordinates communication activities and active citizenship. With a background in Plant Production, she is a research associate at the CIHEAM-Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania. Her expertise lies in food quality, environmental management, and biodiversity conservation, including projects related to climate change adaptation and environmental education. She is also a member of the Administrative Board of Terra Verde on a voluntary basis.
- Maria Theodosiadou, Manager of Awareness Raising Activities at TerraVerde: She delivers the practical implementation of pilot actions at 3 FAIR. Expert in special education, educational inclusion, and integration. Graduated in 2013 from the University of Macedonia in Special Education. Worked in public schools, then in private institutions on inclusive education programmes. Currently at Terra Verde Social Cooperative Grocery in Chania, supporting workplace inclusion for employees with disabilities.
